Born in Paris in 1984, Robin Pitts is the eldest son of a Franco-Swiss mother and an African-American father,
Vic Pitts (1941-2019), drummer for some of the biggest names on the international scene, singer-songwriter and
leader of the band "Vic Pitts and The Cheaters", considered at the time to be the most exciting band in the
American Midwest.
Descended from a long line of musicians, from his great-grandmother trombonist, his grandmother jazz pianist,
his aunt renowned organist and his father, music runs in the Pitts family. From an early age, he was immersed in
black American music, and trained in the ancestral tradition of Funk/Soul/Rythm & Blues/Gospel. As he grew
older, he gradually added his own artistic touch. In 1988, Robin and his parents moved to Haute-Savoie near
Geneva (Switzerland).
At the age of 18, together with his father, brother and cousin, he logically founded his first band, "Power Funk
Family", a 10-piece Big Band with which he played at the Miles Davis Hall - 44th Montreux Jazz Festival in 2010.
After 4 generations of outstanding musicians, the musical heritage continues to live on. An artist, a versatile
jack-of-all-trades and a musical magician, Robin Pitts is above all altruistic, generous and warm, strengthened
by the human values passed on by his father and his family history.
